Events Held By Peace In The Hood
***Upcoming events:
International Walk and Run for
Peace, Justice and Empowerment
We are answering President Obama’s call for a National Day of Service
“Blessed are the Peace Makers for they shall inherit the earth”
Join us to take a stand against violence, injustice and powerlessness in our community. This walk and run is an intergenerational, inter-faith and multi-cultural event.
Peace in the Hood, Inc. and The Discovery Center are pleased to announce the collaboration and sponsorship of the International Walk and Run for Peace, Justice and Empowerment day on April 24, 2010. The event will begin at E. 152nd Street and Kinsman Rd., Cleveland, Ohio (St. Cecilia Church lot) ending at Luke Easter Park with a release of balloons and doves for Peace. The walk and run will begin at 9:00 am (line up and registration 8:30am). The entrance fee $5.00 per person or $60.00 for a team of five (5) – this includes a tee shirt. We are seeking your support as part of the community, in helping to make this event a successful reality! We will be contacting you by phone within the week for a potential commitment, sponsorship and support for this endeavor.
We are asking everyone who has lost someone to violence to join us by bringing a picture of your lost loved one. We will be walking and running for all those who have suffered injustice and powerlessness in our community. This includes victims and survivors of crime and violence.
We are seeking sponsors whose logo will appear on the walk and run tee shirts. Vendor space will be available at the end of the walk and run and will be free of charge for sponsors. For all others, tables will be $20.00. We are seeking donations to purchase tee shirts and other souvenirs for participants, as well as expenses for permits, food and other costs associated with the event.
Corporate sponsorships are available at the following amounts:
$250.00 (bronze)
$500.00 (silver)
$1000.00 and up (gold)
Individual donations and sponsorships are also available in any amount. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made at Key Bank - Walk and Run for Peace Fund. All donors will be recognized at the Luke Easter Park ceremony and in the program.
The proceeds from this event will allow both organizations to continue much needed services for youth in the Mt. Pleasant Community. Please visit our web sites at www.peacinthehood.com/peaceinthehood@yahoo.com and Discoverycenterinc.com to learn more about our work.
